“I was impressed with the Oncology and Orthopaedic Physical Therapy home study course. The organization of the topic was logical and the blending of the medical side of the treatment and physical therapy intervention was excellent. Also, the side effects and description of possible side effects and potential cancers that we might see in our clinic as an entry point into the healthcare system. If I was teaching students, this would be a great additional resource for instruction and review.”

Course Description
This course provides participants with wide-ranging clinically useful material related to cancer care in orthopedic physical therapy practice. Cancer has been one of the leading causes of death, yet as evaluation and management strategies improve, a substantial proportion of individuals are surviving and thriving after a cancer diagnosis. While oncology and orthopedics have classically been considered separate specialties, given the survivorship rates individuals with a history of cancer will likely present in orthopedic settings. The authors of this course systematically discuss implications of cancer diagnoses and treatment across the lifespan. Participants of this course will thoroughly understand how to safely and effectively manage cancer patients in the orthopedic clinic.
