Mentorship Program

Program Overview

The APTA Orthopedics Mentorship Program is designed to support the professional growth of physical therapy students and early-career professionals. Participants are paired with experienced mentors who share similar areas of interest, fostering career development, engagement in the professional association, and valuable networking opportunities.


Program Objectives

  • Facilitate meaningful mentor-mentee relationships.
  • Provide opportunities for career guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote involvement in the professional organization.

Participant Expectations & Communication

Throughout the six-month program, mentors and mentees are expected to:

  • Kickoff Meeting: Attend the kickoff meeting at CSM 2026 in Anaheim (for those attending in person).
  • Monthly Engagement: Connect at least once per month via phone, virtual meeting, email, or other agreed-upon methods.
  • Discussion Topics: Participate in monthly discussion topics distributed via email.
  • Journal Club: Mentees must attend at least one journal club via Zoom during the program.
  • Documentation: Mentees will record monthly communication in the shared Google Drive.
  • Feedback: Complete an end-of-program survey to share your experience and suggestions.

Feedback Process

Feedback is encouraged at any time and can be directed to Chrissy Mansfield. At the conclusion of the program, both mentees and mentors will complete a survey to evaluate program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
