Amanda Arnold, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, SCS

Amanda Arnold, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, SCS is a sports physical therapist, researcher, and educator. Clinical practice informs her research and drives her teaching, all of which focus on the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction, with emphasis on the upper extremities. Her research agenda centers around: (1) understanding how physical measures, such as anthropometry, flexibility, and muscle strength, impact injury risk and athletic performance in overhead athletes, and (2) examining how population-specific risk factors, such as sport specialization and physical growth and development, impact injury risk and athletic performance in youth and adolescent athletes. As a primary or co-investigator on multiple university- and industry-supported research projects, she has gained valuable clinical, research, and leadership skills. She is currently the primary investigator in a 3-year prospective analysis of seasonal changes in shoulder range of motion and strength in a cohort of collegiate baseball players. She is a member of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists and is passionate about expanding and disseminating knowledge surrounding injury prevention, rehabilitation, and sports performance in overhead athletes, particularly at the youth level.
