Purpose

The AOPT PTA Engagement Community (PTA EC) is a networking group for physical therapist assistants (PTAs) and student physical therapist assistants (SPTAs) interested in orthopaedic physical therapy. This peer managed community provides a collaborative platform for individuals at all levels of experience to have a professional home (i.e., community) to “engage” with like-minded people. The PTA EC will provide the opportunity to gather, network, and discuss educational opportunities, research, PTA membership advocacy, and PTA population specific topics (PTA students, active orthopaedic clinicians, educators, etc.…). The EC will strive to bring timely pertinent resources to PTAs through virtual and physical spaces to ensure that engagement is valuable for all. The PTA EC will serve as a bridge between the AOPT and PTA community to optimize authenticity, relatability, and inclusivity of its engagement and service to the association.

PTA Advanced Proficiency Pathways

APTA's PTA Advanced Proficiency Pathways is the premier program for increasing a PTA's knowledge and skill in a chosen area of physical therapy. This assessment-based certificate program allows PTAs to be recognized for their advanced proficiency, knowledge, and skill in one of the following areas:

  • Acute Care
  • Cardiovascular and Pulmonary
  • Geriatrics
  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Orthopedics
  • Pediatrics
  • Wound Management

Once achieved, Advanced Proficiency Pathway program recognition is good for 10 years. More details can be found here
