Orthopaedic Residency/Fellowship 2019 CSM Pre-conference Course

Clinical Excellence and Quality Standards in Residency and Fellowship Education
Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Description:

Successful administration of residency and fellowship training programs is more complex than ever. This 1-day course will assist accredited and developing residency & fellowship programs with becoming compliant with the new ABPTRFE quality standards in 2020! Are you prepared to “teach out”, compliant with “patient and director outcomes”, “faculty feedback”, or managing failure from “remediation to termination” and much more? Whether you are an established residency/fellowship program looking to update compliance with the new criteria, an established program that needs to go through re-accreditation in the near future, or a developing program just getting started, we can help! The speakers will discuss strategies to assist programs in integration and implementation of the new standards. In addition, the speakers and participants will have the unique opportunity to discuss areas of the accreditation process, e.g. curriculum and faculty development, resident/fellow mentoring as well as training of the resident/fellow mentor. This interactive and engaging course will combine presentations with round table discussion to meet the below objectives. Come and learn from colleagues who are program directors and active in the accreditation process!

Speakers:

Kirk Bentzen, PT, DPT, MBA; Aimee Klein, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS; Tara Jo Manal, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS; Eric Robertson, PT, DPT

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Develop and integrate the updated quality standards into developing or existing residency and fellowship post-professional programs
  • Identify and implement the updated quality standards required in the accreditation process for developing and existing residency and fellowship programs
  • Develop practical strategies for the implementation of the new quality standards in the areas of curriculum and faculty development, mentorship, and outcomes reporting to enhance compliance in specialty clinical practice
