CSM 2011 Just Around the Corner!
The Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) focuses on programming designed by all 18 of APTA's specialty Sections. This spectacular event brings together more than 8,500 physical therapy professionals from around the nation for 5 stimulating days of exceptional pre-conferences and programming, networking opportunities, and an exhibit hall filled with products and services to keep you and your practice on the cutting edge.
We hope to see you at the Orthopaedic Section's Social Hour (5:30 PM), Membership Meeting (6:30 PM) and Awards Ceremony (7:30 PM) on Friday, February 11th in the New Orleans Hilton Riverside Hotel, "Napoleon Ballroom".

Proposed Imaging EIG Meeting at CSM
The Orthopaedic Section Board of Directors and the Imaging Educational Interest Group (EIG) Chair, Doug White, invite you to attend an organizational meeting for the proposed Imaging Special Interest Group (SIG) at CSM in New Orleans. We will be seeking feedback on direction/goals for this proposed SIG. The meeting will be held in the Orthopaedic Section suite (room number to be announced in a future Osteoblast) on Thursday, February 10, 2011, 5:00 - 6:00 in the New Orleans Hilton Riverside. 2011 Rose Award Recipient Announced
Congratulations to the 2011 Rose Excellence in Research Award Recipient, Joseph Zeni Jr., PT, PhD and co-author: Lynn Snyder-Mackler, PT, ScD, SCS, FAPTA for their publication, "Early Postoperative Measures Predict 1- and 2-Year Outcomes After Unilateral Total Knee Arthroplasty: Importance of Contralateral Limb Strength" Phys Ther. 90:43-54, 2010.
The Rose Platform Presentation will be presented at CSM on Friday, February 11th from 4:00-5:00 PM in the New Orleans Convention Center in room 204-205. The presentation of the Rose Award will take place during the Orthopaedic Section's Award Ceremony that same evening in the New Orleans Hilton Riverside Hotel, "Napoleon Ballroom".

2011 brings many changes in payment policy from CMS. The final fee schedule rule, issued November 2, implemented payment reductions for all health care providers paid under the fee schedule through the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and an additional payment reduction applicable to therapy providers known as the MPPR policy. Be a Participant in an International Shoulder Research Project!
The Cardiff Interactive Shoulder Movement Alliance is developing a standardised, clinical tool for the describing and recording of scapulothoracic position and movement patterns. Opinions of physical therapists from around the world are being sought and incorporated in the design and testing of the measurement tool.
