Occupational Health SIG

Our Mission:
The Occupational Health Special Interest Group (OHSIG) is recognized as a leading authority in occupational health physical therapy. The SIG leads by: providing professional development, sharing current information, identifying opportunities for outreach and collaboration, and supporting practice and research initiatives.

Our Vision:
The mission of the Occupational Health Special Interest Group (OHSIG) is to be a valued resource for physical therapists involved with any aspect of occupational health and safety. The SIG serves its members by:

  • Managing the SIG in a professional manner that is responsive to the membership
  • Defining, communicating, and promoting the unique role of the physical therapist in occupational health and safety
  • Identifying, sharing and supporting the evidence base in occupational health and safety
  • Providing opportunities for professional development and education
  • Assuming a leadership role in monitoring and influencing activities that may impact the practice of occupational physical therapy
  • Facilitating positive relations between SIG and Section members, as well as with other therapists and members of the wider occupational health community

The Occupational Health SIG was the first SIG to develop in the Orthopaedic Section when it formed in 1993.
