INDEPENDENT STUDY COURSES

How it Works

Completed 3-monograph Courses:
This independent study course consists of 3 monographs that you will receive in a binder along with the final examination, an answer sheet, and a continuing education form. Each monograph is 16 to 28 pages in length and requires 4 to 6 hours to complete. The monographs contain 10 multiple-choice review questions for your self assessment (answers are on the last page). The final examination consists of 12 multiple-choice test questions. To receive continuing education, registrants must complete the examination and return the answer sheet and CEU form within 3 months and must score 70% or higher on the examination. Registrants who successfully complete the examination will receive a certificate recognizing the contact hours earned.

Completed 6-monograph Courses:
This independent study course consists of 6 monographs that you will receive in a binder along with the final examination, an answer sheet, and a continuing education form. Each monograph is 16 to 28 pages in length and requires 4 to 6 hours to complete. The monographs contain 10 multiple-choice review questions for your self assessment (answers are on the last page). The final examination consists of 24 multiple-choice test questions. To receive continuing education, registrants must complete the examination and return the answer sheet and CEU form within 3 months and must score 70% or higher on the examination. Registrants who successfully complete the examination will receive a certificate recognizing the contact hours earned.

Completed 12-monograph Courses:
This independent study course consists of 12 monographs that you will receive in a binder along with the final examination, an answer sheet, and a continuing education form. Each monograph is 20 to 64 pages in length and requires 6 to 7 hours to complete. The monographs contain case scenarios followed by clinical multiple-choice questions which will serve as a self-assessment exercise for the reader. The final examination consists of 12 case scenarios and 48 multiple-choice questions. To receive continuing education, registrants must complete the examination and return the answer sheet and CEU form within 4 months and must score 70% or higher on the examination. Registrants who successfully complete the examination will receive a certificate recognizing the contact hours earned.

For courses in progress, registrants receive monographs monthly and must return their examination within 4 weeks of receiving the final monograph. For completed courses, registrants receive all monographs and must return the examination within 90 days. Exams for Current Concepts of Orthopedic Physical Therapy must be returned in 4 months.

Cancellation Policy
If notification of cancellation is received in writing prior to the course, the registration fee will be refunded less a 20% administrative fee. Absolutely no refunds will be given after receipt of course materials.

Important Note: Although the Orthopaedic Section will make every effort to accomodate expedited processing, please be advised that we cannot process most exams in this manner, REGARDLESS OF LICENSURE DEADLINES. Results will be returned 6-8 weeks to after the examination deadline.
